When can I fly?
Like most outdoor sports, flying is weather
dependent - even more so than most for your first few lessons. As
you progress, you may learn in more challenging conditions, depending
on what we are trying to accomplish. Lessons are available on the
weekends as well as during the week if scheduled well in advance.
Most of your initial training will be done in the evening. So, if
you get the last lesson of the day, you’ll probably enjoy the
memorable sunsets from the air.
How many lessons does it take?
Like any skill, it takes different people different
amounts of time to master the skills for aviation. Depending on experience
(and sometimes 3-axis aircraft time will slow you down some), anywhere
from 15-40 hours is a reasonable range.
Where can I fly when my training is complete?
There are many Ultralight clubs in the United
States. It’s a good idea to located some of the clubs in your
area and acquaint yourself with the local pilots, the airports they
fly from, and some of the local restrictions.
Do my hours as an Ultralight Pilot count toward Sport Pilot?
For a better explanation of the current state of Sport Pilot, see the EAA web site.
Is your Instructor Certified?
Absolutely. Jim Carrigan is our Trike Instructor
and received his USUA BFI training from Kemmeries Aviation (known
for their expertise in the trike field.)
